Chef Rick Bayless took home the James Beard Foundation’s “Outstanding Restaurant” in the nation award! Yep, he sure did–for his Chicago-area innovative Mexican cuisine restaurant “Topolobampo” on North Clark Street. http://www.rickbayless.com/restaurants/topolobampo/

And not to be outdone, another Chicago-area chef, Sarah Grueneberg, took home the Beard prize for “Best Chef: Great Lakes.” that night for her work at “Monteverde” in the West Loop neighborhood http://monteverdechicago.com/ You may have seen Sarah recently on “Iron Chef Gauntlet,” when she came in second place, almost garnering that distinguished title. Have you been watching Chef Aaron Sanchez on the new season of “MasterChef” on Fox? He’s a judge, along with Chefs Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi. Aaron brings a much-needed Latin flavor and flair to the judging. And finally, did you know, Cat Cora has opened a new restaurant in NYC? Yep, it’s called “Fatbird Southern Kitchen and Bar” https://fatbird.com/ and sits on the corner of 9th Avenue in the meat-packing district. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Chef Cora always brings the Southern flair!
